vdw 830 2K-PflasterfugenMörtel is the coloured joint mortar for designing natural stone paving, concrete pavers, slabs and clinker surfaces on terraces, paths and garage driveways as well as in passages and pedestrian zones.

  • coloured joints that do not fade
  • clean surfaces
  • resistant to suction sweepers
  • abrasion-resistant
  • high freeze/de-icing-salt resistance

Application

Requirements Stable substrate, joint depth from 30 mm (for trafficked surfaces we recommend full joint depth), joint width from 5 mm, ambient and surface temperature from 7 °C, max. 30 °C.

Tools Forced-action mixer or free-fall mixer, drill with mixing paddle for smaller quantities, water hose with spray nozzle, mortar tub, wheelbarrow, rubber squeegee and coconut broom.

Test area With natural stone and concrete paver surfaces, contact between vdw 830 PflasterfugenMörtel and the stone surface can cause visual changes. We generally strongly recommend laying out a test area.

Pre-wetting Wet the surface thoroughly.

Mixing the paving joint mortar Add the mineral aggregate, the contents of the bottles and up to 1 litre of water, and mix in a forced-action mixer (5 minutes), free-fall mixer (8 minutes) or using a drill with mixing paddle in a mortar tub (5 minutes).

Filling the joints Pull the mortar over the entire paving surface with a hard-rubber squeegee and work it intensively into the joints.

Sweeping off After approx. 15 to 20 minutes (at 20 °C), sweep off the excess, earth-moist mortar with a damp coconut broom until it is completely removed from the surface. Do not sweep mortar residues into still-open joints. Clean the broom frequently in water.

Consumption

Guide values in kg per m² at 30 mm joint depth

Stone format Joint width 5 mm Joint width 8 mm Joint width 10 mm
Natural stone 10 × 10 cm approx. 4.29 kg/m² approx. 6.67 kg/m² approx. 8.18 kg/m²
Paver 20 × 10 cm approx. 3.24 kg/m² * approx. 5.06 kg/m² approx. 6.23 kg/m²
Large slab 60 × 40 cm approx. 0.93 kg/m² * approx. 1.47 kg/m² * approx. 1.84 kg/m² *

The values apply to stones cut on all sides laid in rows. Consumption rises in proportion to joint depth: twice the depth means twice the quantity.

* Below 4 kg/m² we recommend reviewing the product selection — please get in touch.
