vdw 855

vdw 855 2K High-Density Joint Mortar is the paving joint mortar for heavily trafficked surfaces, e.g. loading zones, road and junction areas and gutters. With vdw 855 you can joint natural stone paving, concrete paving and clinker pavings on squares, paved roads and driveways as well as in old-town areas economically, with a fast setting time and early traffic release.

Application

Requirements Stable, load-bearing, permanently water-permeable substrate suited to the expected loads. Joint depth: the full depth of the joint, down to where the bedding mortar rises between the stones, joint width > 8 mm, ambient and surface temperature from 3 °C, max. 25 °C.

Test area With natural stone and concrete paving, contact between vdw 855 2K High-Density Joint Mortar and the stone surface may cause visual changes. As a general rule, we strongly recommend laying out a test area.

Pre-wetting Pre-wet the surface thoroughly.

Mixing the joint mortar Pre-mix the mineral aggregate-binder mixture, then add the contents of the bottle and mix for approx. 3 to 5 minutes. No water may be added to the mixture!

Filling the joints Immediately pull the mortar across the entire surface with the hard-rubber squeegee and work it intensively into the joints. As flowability decreases, lightly re-wet the mortar with a water spray jet. It is advisable to carry out the jointing from the highest to the lowest point. To produce water-impermeable joints, subsequent compaction of the joint mortar (e.g. with a jointing iron or tamper) is essential.

Sweeping/Cleaning Immediately clean off excess mortar with a water spray jet without washing out the joints. Then sweep again with a damp coconut broom. Do not sweep mortar residues into still-open joints.
